TD Scott Professor/Associate Professor of Urology

The Dunedin School of Medicine, in association with Otago District Health Board, seeks to appoint the inaugural TD Scott Professor/Associate Professor of Urology. This is a newly created position as a result of a generous gift to the University intended to establish a strong academic and research presence in Urology within the Dunedin School of Medicine. A primary intent for this role is to support the research into issues affecting male health of a urological nature.

The appointee should be a specialist urologist holding a qualification eligible for vocational registration in New Zealand. The appointee is expected to possess excellent organisational and leadership qualities and a record of achievement in teaching and research. The appointee will undertake clinical responsibilities in Urology in addition to the designated academic roles.

Researchers from across the University contribute to the ‘Kidney in Health and Disease’ research theme and wide collaboration in renal research including renal development and embryogenesis is encouraged. There are also opportunities for wider collaboration with other researchers in the University’s well regarded medical and medical science departments such as the departments of Anatomy and Structural Biology, Pathology, and Preventive and Social Medicine for example.

The TD Scott Professor/Associate Professor is to be based in Dunedin Hospital adjacent to the main University of Otago campus. The University of Otago is the oldest and most research-intensive university in New Zealand. Dunedin and its surrounding areas provide very attractive lifestyle opportunities.
