AUT has vacancies for an innovative academic to join their growing Department of Mechanical Engineering within the School of Engineering.
The School seeks to make a senior appointment at Associate Professor or Professor level to lead the Engineering Design teaching group and the development of interdisciplinary studies with other Schools, particularly in the Faculty of Design and Creative Technologies. Favourable consideration may be given to candidates with research focuses not only in Design but also in another area such as energy and sustainable technology, engineering systems modelling, or sports and rehabilitation engineering. Established research institutes associated with the School are in the fields of biomedical engineering, manufacturing technology and rapid prototyping.
The School has 1,000 equivalent full-time students and 60 staff, with plans to expand further. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute actively to teaching, research and administration in the School and to lead relationship development activities with industry partners. The successful applicant will also have demonstrated academic leadership and administration skills, and will be expected to take over as Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering within 12 months of appointment.
They are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and dynamic person to fill the advertised role. Prior academic experience is essential although applicants with predominantly industry-based professional experience may also be suitable.
The salary level offered for the role will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
