The University is seeking an outstanding academic for the position of Professor and Dean of the School of Surveying in the Division of Sciences as the School's senior academic and administrative leader. The successful candidate will be charged with ensuring that the School is committed to excellence in all its activities, as well as with the national and international strategic development of the School. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute strongly to a developing academic environment.

 

The University of Otago has the only professional surveying school in New Zealand and one of the largest in Australasia. The research activities of the School at present focus on Measurement/Geodetic Science, Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, and Cadastral/Land Tenure Studies.

 

The successful appointee will have an established international research reputation in relevance to surveying, an appropriate academic and professional background, a capacity to provide academic vision and leadership, the ability to work with staff from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, and a solid track record of managing human, financial and physical resources. It is expected that the Dean will maintain and foster established links with other academic units throughout the University and in the wider professional surveying and spatial sciences community.
