Dhaya Haran, BApp Sc (NRM)
Senior Consultant
Prior to joining ASI in 2008, Dhaya worked at a number of leading tertiary institutes where he was involved in projects that include showcasing the institutes’ research outputs, creating marketing campaigns aimed at lifting the institutions’ profiles, coordinating postgraduate courses and international student recruitment.
While he was at Massey University Dhaya was involved in providing induction programmes for international students. He also worked with students in addressing issues which affected their studies and research while at University. During his time at the University of Auckland, Dhaya worked at the Graduate School where he was involved in increasing postgraduate student numbers as well as support services available to students.
Dhaya has travelled extensively and has been fortunate enough to have spent time in Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, and Trinidad and Tobago prior to settling in New Zealand in 1991. The exposure to different parts of the world, along with his experience with international student recruitment has given Dhaya a good understanding of some of the relocation issues faced by academics. The experience has also given him a clear understanding of the needs and expectations of New Zealand institutions, which has in turn helped overseas academics gain a better understanding of both New Zealand and the tertiary education sector.
Since joining ASI, Dhaya has facilitated searches that have led to successful appointments within the areas of Business, Education, Engineering, Humanities and Sciences.
Outside of work, Dhaya is involved in promoting awareness of human right issues. He is also passionate about football, rugby union and cricket.
