The Hong Kong Polytechnic University wishes to appoint a Chair Professor of Fashion Retailing/Fashion Merchandising to provide leadership in all aspects of academic activities, including teaching, research and consultancy in the area of fashion marketing, merchandising and retailing. The Chair is also expected to lead the forward planning in terms of programme development; to develop the faculty; and to foster professional contacts locally and internationally in the industry, the government as well as academic sectors.  The mission of the Institute is to be the centre of excellence in fashion and textile education regionally and internationally.   Hence, the Chair Professor will play an important role in leading the Institute in this endeavour. 

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is the largest government-funded tertiary institution in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in terms of student numbers.

The Institute of Textiles and Clothing is a constituent unit of the Faculty of Applied Science and Textiles, and is the sole provider of tertiary education in textiles and clothing in Hong Kong.  The courses offered by the Institute range from postgraduate, undergraduate to sub-degree programmes, covering the whole spectrum of activities in fashion and textiles.  The Institute has approximately 2,500 student enrolments and over 70 full-time academic staff.  There are three major disciplinary areas, namely fashion and textile design, fashion technology and fashion retailing & merchandising.
