Flightless mosquitoes control dengue fever

Researchers at the University of California – Irvine, and Oxitec, a commercialisation venture with ties to the University of Oxford hope to contribute to the control of the potentially deadly dengue fever brought about by the aedes aegypti mosquitoes. The researchers have made a breed of mosquitoes that are incapable of flight, which they hope can prevent the spread of the mosquito-borne disease.
