Inspired by the efforts in Finland, South Korea and Singapore to make teaching a “high prestige position”, the Conservative party of the UK plans to make teaching a “brazenly elitist profession”. Under the plans, trainee teachers will need lower second-class degrees to teach in the higher education sector.
