As Australasia’s first executive search firm to specialise exclusively in the higher education sector, we are very proud to celebrate 20 years of business. ASI has been credited with bringing about the concept of “academic” executive search in the region, making it possible for the higher education sector to benefit from professional expertise by a range of firms.
Academic Search International has worked over the years with universities in Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific, Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, China, the Middle East and the UK. We have established a global network of academics at all levels, in all disciplines and operate through one system, allowing us to have a well-established communication platform.
It is very rewarding to look back over the years at the appointments we have assisted our clients with. From early on we adopted a focus on diversity of our long-lists, ensuring our clients always have the best pool of possible candidates to choose from. Many of our placements have gone on to stay for years with our clients, progressing their careers at that institution. Other candidates have benefited from our leadership advisory to go on to take up significant leadership appointments elsewhere.
But above and beyond our core business of executive search and leadership, we are particularly proud of the other forms of giving back to the sector. Over the years, we have for instance helped human resources in Australia and New Zealand develop relationships through sharing information and introductions and sponsoring conferences. We have supported many higher education HR conferences and leadership conferences in the last 20 years. We have helped groups get off the ground to facilitate professional development in higher education.
We are particularly proud of being the inaugural supporters of the WATTLE group (Women ATTaining LEadership) in Victoria, a program based on the New Zealand Women in Leadership program, which is going from strength to strength. This is just one example of our cross-Tasman influence.
And most recently we have made an award available in New Zealand to support Pasifika/Māori midwifery students.
Given what we have achieved over the last 20 years, we are excited about what the future will hold.
