ASI would like to welcome Professor Richard Tilley to his new role as the Director of the Electron Microscope Unit within the Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre which is part of the University of New South Wales. Richard is coming to the University from Victoria University of Wellington where he was the Associate Professor of Chemistry and Deputy Head of School for the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences.
His research focuses on the synthesis, characterisation and applications of nanoparticles and nanomaterials. His current projects include preparation and investigation of semiconductor nanoparticles for medical applications and magnetic particles for data storage media. Nanoparticles are characterised using transmission and scanning electron microscopy. He also has strong links to Tokyo University and Toshiba. ASI would like to congratulate Richard on his appointment and wishes him well in all his future endeavours.
